==================================================================

  1. Regular items
  • The open requirements, pending actions, status of long open bug reports, as well as physics and computing performance monitoring are reviewed.
  • After bug-fix for memory in Bertini, some larger-than-expected changes are seen in shower-shapes in heavy absorbers (tungsten and lead). Coalescence model (because of the Bertini model used at higher energy than before) needs to be looked at wrt to this new energy range usage.
  • Also, the increase in memory footprint compared to 10.2.p03 must be understood.
  1. Status of 10.4-beta release
  • The beta release is on schedule.
  • A second candidate tag will be made within a few days.
  1. Release schedule of 10.4
  • Final date: December 8th, 2017
  • The group deadlines are:

  • October 27th - GROUP-1 categories deadline

  • configuration, analysis, global, materials, graphics_reps, intercoms, geometry/management, particles, track

  • November 3rd - GROUP-2 categories deadline

  • rest of geometry, processes (management, transportation, electromagnetic, scoring), digits_hits, tracking

  • November 10th - GROUP-3 categories deadline

  • the rest of processes, parameterisations, event, run, readout, persistency, physics_lists, visualization, interfaces, g3tog4, error_propagation, examples, environments

  • To ensure the release to be on time, the procedure to be observed is as follows:

  • Respect of the deadlines for the developments

  • i.e. development tags may be rejected if the deadline is not met;

  • In cases of withdrawal of developments in favour of a “stable” version of the code for the release, the withdrawal has to happen well before the deadline period so that it can be included in a reference tag and well tested;
  • Have new data sets and major configuration changes included in reference tags well before the deadlines period;
  • Minimize the usual final rush of tags before the deadline.
